Up for sale are a rare set of books by Charles Rathbone Low. No date is written on the title page but research indicates circa 1890’s? This is a complete history of England’s Navy from 885 to 1890s. Title: Her Majesty's Navy, including Its Deeds and Battles, Volumes 1-3 bound in Six Parts. With colored illustrations by W. Christian Symons and W. Fred Mitchell. L; J. S. Virtue & Co., Limited, n.d. Vol. 1, Div I: pp. [8] leaves of plates, including illustrated title page, (2), [1]-176, (4); Div. II: pp. [7] leaves of plates, (2), 177-348, (4); Div. III: pp. [8] leaves of plates, (2), [1]-180, (4); Div. IV: pp. [7] leaves of plates, (2), 181-352, (4); Vol. II, Div. V: [8] leaves of plates, including illustrated title page, (2), [1]-180, (4); Vol. III, Div.VI: pp. [8] leaves of plates, including illustrated title page, (2), 181-3 52, (4), (26), being the table of contents, illustration lists and repeat (but unillustrated) title pages of the three volumes, (4). Includes 40 illustrations with tissue intact and all books contain a golden gilt spine. They appear to be in good condition. Some bending of the spine in the middle when opened but all pages are complete with no noticeable tears. There is some mild foxing to some of the pages. Some of the volumes do have a crease in the middle of the volume due to age.
